2015 MARTIN CUSTOM SHOP NAMM SHOW LIMITED EDITION VINTAGE D-45 GUATEMALAN ROSEWOOD/ MASTER GRADE ADIRONDACK SPRUCE
Undoubtedly, this Custom D-45 stands out as the most captivating and thrilling modern Martin guitar we have ever had available. It was meticulously crafted using exceptionally rare and exquisite tonewoods, incorporating vintage specifications while also incorporating a touch of modernity.
The guitar Top,back and sides of this limited edition D-45 were carefully chosen by the top Martin Japan Dealer at the NAMM show in January 2015. It is one of only 15 guitars in this special series. The Guatemalan rosewood used in constructing this D-45 is of the highest quality, handpicked by the Martin Custom Shop. With its tight, straight, quartersawn grain and its rich, dark red, brown, and black hues, the back and sides resemble the exquisite appearance of Brazilian rosewood. The fine spider-webbing down the center further enhances its beauty. Adorned with style 45 pearl and ivoroid, the guitar boasts a truly breathtaking back and sides.
This Custom Shop D-45 model incorporates features primarily inspired by Martin's Golden Era and Marquis lines. The Master Grade Adirondack spruce top is equipped with scalloped and forward-shifted X bracing, reminiscent of Martin's practices in the 1930s. For the bracing stock, Sitka spruce was chosen, mirroring the use of Sitka spruce in that era. This selection of Sitka spruce adds flexibility to accentuate the warmth and enhance the low-end tones of the rigid Adirondack spruce top.
The neck design captures a pre-war feel and aesthetic, featuring a rounded V carve and measuring 1-3/4" in width at the nut. Wooden purflings and a gloss lacquer finish contribute to the overall vintage appeal. The fingerboard showcases pearl hexagon inlays, while the fingerboard and headstock are bound with ivoroid. The headstock displays vertical C.F. Martin headstock inlays and a long volute, reminiscent of the 1930s style. It is also adorned with a C.F. Martin & Co stamp. The angle-bottomed bone nut adds to the instrument's authenticity. The back of the headstock is fitted with a set of gold grover tuning machines.
