One of the family of Custom Shop Diamond Dealer Limited Edition Series, this model was introduced in January 1994 and discontinued in January 1995.
The U.S. MSRP was $8000.00 back in 1994.
Only 150 of these guitars were built in the Custom Shop and each was graced with a highly flamed 2-Piece bookmatched maple top on a light weight swamp ash body. The soft 'V' shape neck was sculptured from highly figured maple, complete with gold leaf 'Fender' and '40th' Logos on the headstock and a '1954-1994' banner inlay at the twelfth fret.
The hardware included gold vintage style machine heads and a gold vintage style bridge/tremolo.
The most stunning and eye-caching component is the 22 carat gold plated pickguard designed by Pamelina H. and engraved by Ron Chacey.
A set of 3 Custom '50s Pickups with standard Master Volume, Tone (Neck), Tone (Middle) control knobs completed this classy outfit, ensuring the whole package looks, feels and sounds great.
John Page who was in charge of the Custom Shop at the time, later emphasized that these guitars were built to be players.
As far as accessories are concerned, owners received a Diamond Custom Shop Ring (incorporating the 'V' style Custom Shop logo with a diamond in the centre). The other more typical accessories included a substantial SBK flight case and a tweed gig bag. The guitar can be placed in the gig bag and the whole package is designed to fit in the flight case.
